2023 starts a new focus on creating the most flavorful and hardy varieties. Previous years have made us realize that our best seed has been coming from the local growers of our region. We will be restructuring our production to include self saved seed and purposeful cross-pollination to further improve our production and offerings, as well as others. We are participating in landrace trials for a variety of produce this year. Crops include:

• Kale

• Potato

• Spinach

• Popcorn

• Fava Bean

• Pepper

• Cold hardy avocado

• Tomato

Instead of planting entirely pure cultivars, purposeful crossing and subsequent grow outs should result in site specific cultivars for the community. Hopefully this will simplify planning and reduce the impact on the environment. Locally adapted varieties grown in season should reduce fertilizer and any biocide inputs to a goal of none along side other holistic management strategies.
